I bought this 1942 Ford GPW in 2020 to learn how to do mechanical work as a hobby. It came from Alaska where it had been driven daily in the bush. The old man that had it retired and moved here to Washington state and brought it with him, but it sat parked parked since 1995 until I got it. I’ve done a lot of work to get it back on the road. It’s been an amazing journey and a huge confidence builder for me to be doing this by myself as a woman. Mostly it’s been the sentimental journey that has kept me interested. In honor of my dad I painted his name below the windshield on the passenger side. He’s been gone since ’96 but I know he’s riding with me. The other name on the driver’s side is Guppy. That’s what my granddaughter calls me. Hopefully she’ll be driving it someday too!!
