This 1964 CJ-5 Jeep has been in the family since it was bought new in 1964. My great uncle used it on the farm to pull grain wagons with. It originally had a PTO to power the hoist but at some time he replaced it with an overdrive. It was the first vehicle all us kids learned how to drive in the back country roads.
It was handed down to my father in 1982 who used it on his acreage until 1990 when he parked it in the barn. I told dad 2 years ago that I wanted to restore the old Jeep and that it would only take me a year. I was only kidding myself with that one, once I started I wanted everything done right. It was meticulous but rewarding work, especially when I took dad for a ride into town. It’s mostly original but I changed out the generator for an alternator and installed electronic ignition. So many memories with this CJ-5, it’s great to relive them again.
