I’m delighted to introduce you to “La Otra”, my affectionate nickname for our 1956 Willys Truck. My husband has completely restored it. The truck originally came from Cadiz, in the South of Spain. It’s possible that it arrived in Spain in the late 50s at the US Navy base in Rota. Our Willys Fire Engine is the second one produced in 1956.
It took my husband 4 years to restore it, as it had been completely abandoned. He spent more time in the garage with the Pickup than with me, which is why I call it “La Otra” (The Other). The engine, 6-230 Tornado, comes from a M715. Last March, we took a fantastic trip with it, covering 2600 km from south to north of Spain: from Cadiz to Santander, and back to Asturias where we live. This journey was part of the IX Spain Classic Raid, and we were honored with the Prize for the Oldest Vehicle participating. It was a wonderful experience.
