Following Volkswagen’s acquisition of Bugatti in 1998, a series of W-engine, all-wheel-drive concept cars paved the way for the legendary Veyron. Introduced in 2000, the Veyron honored racing driver Pierre Veyron with its name, a nod to his victory at the 1939 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Bugatti Type 57C.
The production Veyron arrived in 2005, leaving the world speechless. With a monstrous mid-mounted, quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it blasted from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.46 seconds and reached a top speed of nearly 254 mph. Despite its immense power, the all-wheel-drive system ensured exceptional stability at all speeds.
Massive carbon-ceramic discs with eight-piston calipers in front and six-piston calipers at the rear provided phenomenal stopping power. Special Michelin tires, custom-made for the Veyron, wrapped the unique alloy wheels. The intricate hand-crafted design solidified the Veyron’s presence as a modern Bugatti – a car unlike anything else on the road.
Naturally, with a price tag well over a million dollars, the Veyron was a masterpiece reserved for the elite. This particular Veyron 16.4, number 143 of only 252 produced in its original configuration (2005-2011), is one such example. It’s also one of only 76 built for the US market and even has a celebrity past, being owned by comedian Tracy Morgan between 2017 and 2020.
This stunning car boasts a Black Metallic exterior with Havanna Tan leather interior. It’s a technological marvel featuring adaptive fuel injection, advanced lubrication systems, multiple radiators, high-performance brakes with titanium calipers, lightweight wheels with special tires, a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, and a unique rear wing that doubles as an airbrake.
