The community of Niceville, Florida recently honored the life of Mike Ledford, owner of the My Ohana food truck, who was killed on Feb. 9 in a stabbing incident. Multiple food trucks including B’s Smoking BBQ, Cafe Rico, Curry in a Hurry, Dippin’ Dots, Fuel Burger, Local’s Rollin’ Eatery, Spork and Thai2Go showed up to the event and donated portions of their sales to Ledford’s family, according to a report by Wear News 3.
The event featured a silent auction and merchandise sales to raise money as well.
« For Mike’s family, in addition to the customers, just the whole community of food trucks are family to him, » Brian Detweiler, co-owner of 3rd Planet Brewing said in the report. « They looked up to him and he helped them a lot. So, we thought what better way to honor him and celebrate him by having all this food truck family here to help him out. »
