Lamborghini Eccentrica

For those who grew up in the 90s, the Lamborghini Diablo is a genuine icon that represented raw power, Italian design, and for lack of a better word, dreams. Emanuel Colombini, business entrepreneur and Lamborghini collector/racer, never stopped dreaming: “The Diablo was my dream car as a kid; I remember it shiny and red on the cover of Quattroruote. At the time, it was the supercar that broke all speed records! These memories and emotions returned when I saw it again about ten years ago in a dealership, almost forgotten but charming and gritty as ever. As we went over its design and aesthetics, we realized the potential that this model could have if only we updated the lines and improved those “flaws” – for lack of a better term – of the double Gandini & Chrysler management.”

Imagination becomes reality

As an adult, Emanuel eventually bought a Diablo GT, and envisioned his Italian exotic becoming something even more than how it left the factory.  In his own words, he was seeking to create an “unparalleled driving experience.”  Combining the power of a 5.7-liter naturally-aspirated V12 with updated styling cues, he felt the end result would be nothing short of a rolling “masterpiece.”

Borromeo de Silva

Seeking world-class Italian design, Emanuel collaborated with Milanese design studio Borromeo de Silva in Italy to produce this audacious yet tasteful restomod called the Eccentrica. As you can see, the lines of the Diablo have been enhanced, yielding a more contemporary feel.

Careful refinement

Emanuel hoped to emphasize the character and stylistic features of the original Diablo while maintaining its iconic nature. The BorromeodeSilva Studio has maintained a balance between size and performance, taking inspiration from the Diablo GTR. The bodywork of the “donor car” has been completely revised, except for the windshield, which remains original, while the proportions have been taken to the extreme. The interiors have been designed as the meeting point between the minimalism of the early 90s and the artfully elevated mechanics typical of luxury watchmaking.

Performance first

The priority of this build was to yield an “extreme driving” experience. This was accomplished via ultra-light materials, advanced technical solutions, and efficient design. Initial computer simulations yield staggering performance: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, top speed of 335 km/h, and a lateral cornering force of 1.2 g. A few partner brands used in this project are Pirelli, Brembo, Marantz, Capristo, and Alcantara.

Brakes

The braking system is designed by Brembo, a global leader in the world of cars and motorsport. It is a new and exclusive system comprising a sculptural 6-piston monoblock and slotted discs that recall the geometric lines of the Diablo. Thanks to an innovative fusion process with 4D technology, the Brembo brake calipers will allow the finished vehicle to brake from 100 Km/h to 0 in just 34 meters, i.e., 7 meters less compared to the original model and more than 20% reduction in braking distance.

BorromeodeSilva Studio comments

“Our work has enhanced the appropriate balance between size and performance, taking inspiration from the Diablo GTR. The vehicle’s original proportions have been taken to the extreme, and everything has been enhanced by a series of eye-catching details, both on the exterior and the interiors of the car, leveraging top-quality materials and aiming to create a fierce hypercar. “

Engine

The original 5.7-liter V12 engine has been modified by introducing technical evolutions and slightly increasing maximum power (550 HP at 7,000 RPM) and maximum torque (600 Nm at 6.500 RPM). This intervention is combined with extensive use of composite materials that reduce the car’s overall weight, such as titanium and carbon fiber. The aim is thus to achieve an excellent weight/power ratio (less than 2.9 kg/hp).

Italian sneakers

Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires will help manage the exuberant power to the ground.  The track semi-slicks are approved for the road and employ advanced technologies, particularly the compound, tire structure, and tread pattern. For example, the tread pattern favors stability on straight lines, short braking distances, and increased lateral grip.

Limited Production

The first Eccentrica based on the Diablo will be produced in just 19 custom models by choosing from numerous variants including body paint jobs, upholstery, fabrics, and materials. This means that no two vehicles will be identical, making them essentially “four-wheeled” masterpieces whose values will grow in step with their fame among collectors.

The entire Eccentrica styling and mechanical overhaul of the Diablo will require an estimated time period of between 16 and 18 months, including a testing phase in various conditions, and the price of its transformation will start at €1,200,000. The vehicle will reflect the customer’s personality and preferences and put them behind the wheel of a unique and one-of-a-kind vehicle. The price does not include purchasing the donor car on the international market.
