LUXUO unveiles the most anticipated releases from the world of luxury fashion and beyond coming up in 2024. From collaborative releases to one-of-a-kind artistic showcases alongside a celebration in line with this year’s Chinese New Year festivities, here is a rundown of releases to look out for (so far).
Louis Vuitton’s New LV Remix Collection
The debut of Louis Vuitton’s latest LV Remix Collection sees the return of the labels’ signature monogram pieces that have appeared in a multitude of previous incarnations. The new releases from the LV Remix collection include a range of leather goods, shoes and accessories, revealed in a digital campaign fronted by friends and ambassadors of the Maison — Phoebe Dynevor, Lous & the Yakuza, Shay Mitchell and Nana Ouyang. Fans will notice new iterations of past collections including “The Monogram Vernis” collection that debuted in 2000 and the “Monogram Denim” that first arrived in 2005. Today these pieces are delivered in new shapes, animations and infused with fresh pops of colour. Staples like The Noé and Speedy are offered in a “Monogram Denim” canvas and the Micro Alma in blue, pink and yellow patent leather — each showcased through a vibrant campaign filled with an elegant charm and youthful allure.
Alongside the debut of the LV Remix Collection, Louis Vuitton has also announced the location of the house’s upcoming Women’s Prefall 2024 collection which will take place on the 18 April 2024 at the Long Museum West Bund in Shanghai, China. Dubbed “The Louis Vuitton Voyager Show”, this concept encompasses the Maison’s Men’s and Women’s Prefall and Cruise shows going forward and signifies the label’s spirit of travel to showcase off-season collections in exceptional and inspiring locations around the world.
RIMOWA Channels The Ocean
RIMOWA’s Essential collection has unveiled the latest Sea Blue colour iteration. The RIMOWA polycarbonate range has been expertly colour-matched in Sea Blue, from its shell to its wheel housing. A regenerative influence of the sea, this piece not only comes in this saturated shade of blue but features a series of sophisticated functionalities, from the stage-free telescopic handle and multiwheel system that ensure a seamless travel experience to its TSA-approved locks to secure your belongings.
UNIQLO x Marimekko
What do you get when you combine a Japanese brand with an exclusive Finnish design house? The “UNIQLO x Marimekko” limited-edition collaboration collection sees a line of as soft fleece and functional pieces adorned with world-renowned prints inspired by Nordic nature and wildlife. The collection features a total of four distinctive prints, the Kivet, Kissapöllö, and Seireeni patterns created by prominent Marimekko designer Maija Isola, and the Hattara pattern by Pentti Rinta. Inspired by Nordic nature, including elements like stones, owls, and cloudy skies, each pattern employs elegant colours such as pearl grey, muted gold, and timeless black to express serene winter landscapes and evoke a cozy, warm feeling.
Valentino Merges Fashion and Feminine Power
In a move that sees Maison Valentino strengthen its links with the art world, the Italian label will launch a special commission of unique works titled, “Gestures of Affection” by interdisciplinary Singaporean artist, Sarah Choo Jing during Singapore Art Week. This is another meaningful step in Valentino’s dialogue with the arts and is inspired by messages of Valentino’s creative director through the Spring/Summer ’24 Valentino L’Ecole collection “Gestures of Affection” and serves to highlight the body in celebration of femininity and humanity. Gestures of Affection is a visual exploration that accentuates the minutiae of interpersonal gestures and serves as a testament to the seven qualities inherent in the female experience- sensuality, resilience, empathy, individuality, freedom, passion and vulnerability.
The body of work comprises seven digital videos, each composition recorded in ultra-high speed, and presented through the lens of slow-motion playback at seven minutes per video. The videos center-in on seven meticulously staged scenes, each featuring a female protagonist that references the different facets of the moon — a powerful source of feminine energy, captured in a moment of raw, unfiltered authenticity of femininity, revealing the untold stories etched into the skin of every woman.
Fendi
Fendi has joined forced with Hiroshi Fujiwara for a Pokémon and fragment design capsule collection. Hiroshi Fujiwara’s FRGMT plays with Dratini, Dragonair and Dragonite to transform the Maison’s signatures and icons into mini collectable figurines. Hiroshi Fujiwara’s FRGMT signature is reinterpreted across the monogram FF jacquard in an bright neon yellow and the traditional brown and tobacco colourways. While the label did not explicitly mention this was released as part of 2024’s Year of the Dragon celebration, it is worth noting that special avatar items inspired by the collaboration will be coming to Pokémon GO on 4 January 2024.
Hennessy Honours 2024 Chinese New Year
Hennessy welcomes the majestic Year of the Dragon, with a striking limited-edition collection inspired by a digital art piece created by visionary Chinese artist Yang Yongliang, called “Dragon’s Odyssey”. In honour of the dragon, perhaps the most symbolic animal of the Chinese zodiac, Yang Yongliang has combined traditional drawings with striking digital art which literally breathe life, movement, energy and fire into a collective of metallic dragons showcased on these exclusive bottles. The unique artwork has incredible attention to detail, with a three-dimensional element which brings out even the texture of the dragon’s skin and teeth. Each bottle features a colour which embodies the aspirations of the new year — red for joy and luck and gold for prosperity.
Berluti Dresses Olympians
Although not a release as more of a landmark move, the Maison will be dressing the French team from head to toe for the opening ceremonies for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will be held on the 26 July and 28 August 2024 respectively. In designing these outfits, Berluti’s creative studios and artisans will work closely with teams led by Marie-Amélie Le Fur, President of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee, David Lappartient, President of the French Olympic and Sports Committee, and Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024.
This collaborative process, powered by Berluti’s creativity and craftsmanship, will “ensure a team kit that reflects the modern spirit of French elegance”. France’s athletes will wear these uniforms, which will be exclusively designed for their ease and comfort and tailored to the Maison’s usual meticulous standards during the ceremonies which will be broadcasted all around the globe.
