My grandfather purchased this 1956 Willys Wagon to serve as his deer hunting vehicle in 1956. My brother and I would often ride on the front fenders and also learned how to drive a manual transmission. He had his mechanic replace its 6 cylinder motor with a Ford Flathead V8 in the late 50s. The Wagon was heavily damaged when crushed by a fallen tree in 2012, making it necessary to use the body of a 1948 Wagon from the front cowl back to restore it with the front clip (fenders and the hood) from the 1956 Wagon.
The restoration was completed in 2019. I enjoy going to local car shows sharing pictures of the restoration process. Most people at the car shows comment that they did not know that Willys made wagons. My brother has since located and purchased the blue 1960 Wagon.
