Bryan Tecun, owner of Bryan’s Birrieria food truck in Long Beach, California, was stabbed after intervening in a robbery. He saw an elderly woman get robbed by a suspect, which he then chased down and retrieved her items. However, later he realized he had been stabbed twice, according to a report by CBS News.
« I got in my truck and drove away. As I was driving on the 710 I started feeling a bit worse, » he said in the report. « I started sweating a lot and felt like I was gonna pass out. »
His lung collapsed from the event and he had to spend three days at the hospital. Doctors say his recovery could take two months. The Long Beach Police Department arrested the 29-year old man and have charged him with robbery.
Tecun said he would help again if given the opportunity.
« Like I said, I would do it for anybody, » he said. « We’re here to be here for each other. »
Tecun’s employees set up a GoFundMe for his medical bills, which has raised more than $25,000 so far.
